Electronic Media Content Association of Nigeria, EMCOAN, has launched NEMCEA Creative Academy.
The launching of the NEMCEA Creative Academy was done on August 23, 2023 which was held at the day two of the NEMCEA events that occured at Radisson Blu Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos State.
The launching which was done by the leadership of EMCOAN was attended by scores of students across tertiary institutions in Lagos state. It is aimed at focusing the young content creators and students in order to develop their content creation skills.
Aside that, part of the event of the day two are panel discussions which is aimed at helping to improve the content creators and producers.
In a panel discussion on “CONTENT CREATION – UNDERSTANDING WHAT THE AUDIENCE WANT”, panelists focused on how young content creators can explore various opportunities.
Panelists included the following: Moderator – Oluwaseyi Akinwumi (Content Creator), Stephen Ologeh (Director, Rwells Group), Aminat Atahiru (Talkshow Host & GM, Rave TV), Seun Akinola (Talent Manager), Somnath Malakar (CEO, Zee Entertainment, Sub-Saharan Africa and Indian Ocean Islands), Florence Okah Ahivah (A Host of Tech Hub, UNILAG Radio), Omolade Omotayo (Head of Business and Strategy, Kraks Media Limited)
Part of the recommendations are; “That content creators should clearly identify their target demographic. Consider factors like age, gender, location, interests, and pain points. The more specific audience persona, the better content creators can tailor content.
“That content creators should gain a deep understanding of their niche or industry. They should stay up-to-date with trends, news, and discussions. This helps them align content with current interests.”
In a panel on “CONTENT PRODUCERS AS THE VOICE OF CHANGE IN NIGERIA – TELLING OUR COMPELLING STORIES”, the panelists included the following: Moderator – Joan Mbanefo (Head Of Special Project, R-WELLS Media And Advertising), Longe Omolaja (MD, DEO Media Ventures), Mr. Raphael Akpan (NBC Southwest Zonal Director), Mr. Peter Armand Boyo (Nigerian Filmaker)
Part of the recommendations are;”That broadcast stations should give a chance to other producers to tell different stories by different actors to tell different stories in Africa.
“That Nigerians need to appreciate the work and craft of the local producers that are telling stories.”
In a panel discussion on “CONTENT PRODUCTION IN THE DIGITAL AGE – CREATION, CURATION AND MONETIZATION”, the panelists included the following: Moderator – Alayande Stephen T. (Managing Director, Eagles House Global Resources), Kingsley Omoefe (Managing Director, Golden Heritage Limited), Mr. Adeniji Omirin (MD, ADNOM Communications), Tolani Tela Arowolo (Executive Marketing Expert), Desiree Pillay (SVP, Content & Marketing, Zee Entertainment, South Africa), Stephen Ologe (Director, Rwells Media & Advertising)
Part of the recommendations are, ” That there is need to revive broadcast content to understand what is working and what needs improvement.
“That there should be a policy from the NBC that encourage more local content and content producers.”
There were also networking sessions and light refreshment and exhibition ended 19:00 for the year 2023.
The activities of Day 2 was kick-started by the keynote speech of the DG, NBC. He was represented by the NBC Zonal Director, Lagos in person of Mr. Raphael Akpan who spoke glowing about the NEMCEA Initiative and the efforts of EMCOAN as an Association.
He reiterated NBC support for the NEMCEA Project beyond the 2023 edition. He spoke on the importance of the need for quality Content Production and the need for us to continue to grow as an Industry.
ADRON Homes had a Feature session on the importance of Content Producers to plan for the future and own their own homes.
The session was handled by ADRON Homes Director, Public Affairs, Mrs. Comfort Ogundele. All the different Panel Sessions took place with different panelists bringing their A game.
Another featured session for NBC came up where Mrs. Frances Ben-Agande spoke and made a presentation about NBC organised AFRICAST 2023 in October, Lagos. She invited producers,and stakeholders to join them in October, Lagos.
The last and the longest session of the Day titled “EMCOAN Content Exchange Forum – A strategic tool to sharing cultural and national value, business expansion and possible collaboration/co-production” was an eye opener.
The panelists were High Chief Emeka Ossai (MD, Golden Pyramid Productions), Mr. Theophilus Akatugba (MD, Ovueta Nigeria Limited), Alhaja Amina Mohammad (CEO, Aims Media Company Ltd.), Mrs. Frances Ben-Agande(NBC Public Affairs) and Ehizogie Ohiani (Head, Click Naija Radio). After all the Panel Sessions, NEMCEA Creative Academy was launched with pictures of the students and young content creators in attendance with members of EMCOAN.
