Lontor Unveils Solar-Powered System to Cut Electricity Costs

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

Lontor Hi-Tech Development Company, a subsidiary of Choice International Group, has unveiled a revolutionary renewable energy system designed to significantly reduce electricity costs in Nigeria.

The Residential Energy Storage System (RESS) is a solar-based solution that can cut energy costs by approximately 80%.

At the launch event themed “Power your lifestyle,” Senior Marketing Manager Larry Long highlighted the company’s 20-year presence in Nigeria and its expansion into various household appliances. He stated that before now, people knew Lontor with the manufacturing of torches and rechargeable fans and they have an array of rechargeable and non-rechargeable fans, torchlights for indoor and outdoor services, boom speakers, kitchen appliances, energy-conserving air conditioners, heater kettles, and more.

Larry emphasized the cost-saving benefits of RESS, stating, “People are paying N200 to N250 per unit of electricity, but by using this solar system, you will be spending N40 per unit.”

Senior Sales Manager Kizito Okhaifoh explained the system’s composition, saying, “The renewable energy system is made up of an inverter and lithium battery – as opposed to lead used in some places – all put together as one.” He added that the product comes with a 3-month warranty for inverters and technical support for installation and maintenance. This is the first time such a launch will be done in Abuja, which is part of the North Central market.

Doris Du, Senior Sales Manager, provided product specifics, highlighting that the inverter comes in three categories – 2.56KWh which can carry some household items, 5KWh which can carry washing machines, ACs and some household appliances, as well as 10KWh which can power an entire residential apartment.

According to Doris, the RESS has high-grade quality and safety, unique and sleek design, flexible battery expansion and paralleling, multi-scenario application, multiple sources of power, seamless power switch-over within 20-10 milliseconds, sleep-grade noise, intuitive and easy to use, plug and play connections, and easy installation with all accessories included.

The inverters can last for three days non-stop when fully charged, while the batteries have an 8-10 year lifespan with 3000 times recycle span.

The launch event featured a raffle draw, with dealers and buyers winning gifts ranging from N100,000 to N1 million. Notable attendees included the Managing Director of the company, Mr. Roamen Lin, Senior Marketing Manager, Mr. Larry Long, Senior Sales managers, Mrs. Doris Du and Mr. Kizito Okhaifoh.
