Nurse Recommended for Prosecution Over Mohbad’s Death

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

A Lagos State Coroner’s Court has recommended that auxiliary nurse Feyisayo Ogedengbe face criminal prosecution in connection with the death of singer Mohbad.

The court found that Ogedengbe’s actions were grossly negligent and unlawful.

The court found that Ogedengbe administered an injection to Mohbad without a proper prescription from a licensed physician. The magistrate concluded that the nurse’s actions were professionally irresponsible and unlawful.

Magistrate Shotobi who delivered the court’s findings on Friday said, “In line with Section 29 of the Coroner Laws of Lagos State, this court recommends that the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution, DPP, initiate appropriate legal action against Feyisayo Ogedengbe for unauthorized medical practice and gross negligence.”

Mohbad died on September 11, 2023, under controversial circumstances, leading to widespread outrage and calls for a thorough investigation. Ogedengbe was arrested in connection with the singer’s death and testified in court in March 2025. During her testimony, Ogedengbe admitted to giving Mohbad a tetanus injection, which was followed by adverse reactions, including vomiting.

While the court ruled out foul play or homicide, it emphasized that Ogedengbe’s actions were unacceptable and warrant prosecution.
