Oluyole Local Government Chairman, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, Vows to Tackle Land Grabbers.
He has issued a stern warning to land grabbers operating in the area, threatening to deal with them according to the law. Olatunji’s warning came during a visit to Olode community, following a distress call about notorious land grabbers.
“I heard that a certain guy notorious for land grabbing and selling same to unsuspecting members of the public was here last week to carry out survey,” Olatunji said. “I’ve also been inundated that the lady has illegally sold off several hectares of land at different locations within Oluyole local government but I’m here today to personally send a note of warning to her and whoever her allies in the community are, that I don’t want to see her anywhere near LG property again.”
Olatunji assured that no inch of Oluyole land would be invaded, warning that ignorance was no excuse for crime. He stressed that anyone attempting to sell local government land would face the full wrath of the law.
“The era of shenanigans is over, my administration will not condone or tolerate any act of illegality from anyone no matter how highly placed such person may be,” Olatunji emphasized. “Therefore, those who know the lady should pass our message across to her to desist immediately, and if she attempts to undermine this warning, then we will not hesitate to deploy all instruments of the law to apprehend and bring her to book.”
Olatunji also met with relevant security agencies, including the Police and local security outfits.
Additionally, Olatunji announced plans to post local government staff to resume duties at the LCDA in Olode starting October. He pledged to grade the deplorable access road between Olunde and the LCDA to ease workers’ transportation.
“The relocation of our LCDA back to its original location was a carefully thought out decision aimed at fulfilling the primary purpose of the LCDA which is to bring rapid development to undeveloped and underdeveloped rural communities,” Olatunji explained. “This move is expected to improve accessibility for residents and enhance the delivery of essential services especially to grassroots communities. It also signals our avowed commitment to addressing local issues with a focused approach which aim to provide a more secure and conducive environment for both administration and community development.”
Olatunji warned that any worker posted to the LCDA but feels reluctant to resume duty is free to resign from the service of the Local Government.
Community leaders, including Councilors Honorable Taiwo Isaiah and Demola Dauda, narrated how the previous administration abandoned the LCDA alongside LG workers working there for Akorede. They expressed confidence and optimism in Olatunji’s leadership.
Otun Baale of Olode, Chief, thanked Olatunji for providing visionary leadership that has restored the hope of the people in his political influence to directly impact grassroots development.
Others, including PDP leader Mr. Taiwo Aremu and residents, praised Olatunji’s proactive and pragmatic approach to governance and appealed for more security presence to keep intruders and criminally minded persons away from their community.
Olatunji also inspected the ongoing construction project at Apadi Community Primary School, Apadi and said that when completed, the school will enhance access to qualitative elementary education for children in the area. He also assured that his administration remains committed to domesticating Governor Makinde’s education policies at the grassroots.
