The management of Osun State Polytechnic Iree, OSPOLY has announced date to resume academic activities.
In a statement on Friday by the Registrar of the Polytechnic, Oyesowo Lawrence stated that the academic activities will resume fully on Monday, 14th August, 2023.
According to the statement, “I am directed to inform the Polytechnic community that the academic activities will resume on Monday, 14th August, 2023.
“In view of this, all members of staff are to resume for duties as appropriate. You are hereby advised to comply accordingly.”
This online medium recalls that academic activities of the Osun State Polytechnic, Iree, had been shutdown since July 25, 2023 following a protest embarked upon by the Academy Staff Union of the Polytechnic to register their displeasure over the suspension of the Institution’s Rector, Dr Tajudeen Odetayo.
Many lecture rooms were deserted as scores of students were seen watching the happenings while others were going back to their different houses.
The Union which condemned the suspension, described the step taken by the state Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke as an aberration against the constitution of the institution and has suspended the school academic activities over the suspension.
Speaking on the suspension, the President of the union, Dr. Fatai Afolabi while addressing a mammoth crowd who were in solidarity rally for the suspended rector, frowned at the action of the governor.
As a result, the Osun State Government set up a seven-man investigative panel to look into the suspension of Osun State Polytechnic Rector Tajudeen Odetayo and find means of resolving it.
