Tinubu Vows to Fight Banditry and Terrorism in Northern Nigeria

President Bola Tinubu, has vowed to fight banditry and terrorism in Northern Nigeria. He said that no region will be allowed to suffer in silence.

Speaking at the Arewa Consultative Forum’s 25th anniversary in Kaduna, he acknowledged the complex security challenges inherited by his administration, but emphasized his government’s determination to restore peace.

He said that the Northern region has not failed, stating, “It will only fail if leaders retreat from their responsibility to be their brothers’ keepers.” He also said that leadership loses relevance the day leaders sleep peacefully while millions sleep hungry or travel in fear.”

Tinubu mentioned the North’s potential for economic growth, citing the Kolmani oil fields and ongoing infrastructure projects like the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano Superhighway. He praised the ACF’s efforts and urged Northern leaders to unite, emphasizing that unity is important to overcome challenges.

Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin showed confidence in the North’s ability to overcome insecurity. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts and resource leveraging. He acknowledged the region’s resilience and determination, despite security concerns.
