Yemi Solade Denied Award After Refusing to Pay for Plague

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

Nigerian actor Yemi Solade has revealed that he was denied an award after refusing to pay for it.

Solade took to Instagram to express his disappointment and frustration with the organizers, accusing them of extortion.

The actor shared a screenshot of his conversation with the organizers, which showed that they had asked him to pay for the award plaque.

When Solade refused, the organizers responded by saying that they would not present the award to him in order to “save cost.”

Solade wrote, “I refused to pay for the AWARD PLAQUE. This is the outcome.” The chat revealed the organizers’ message. They said, “Good morning sir, trust you had a good night rest. I did revert your response regarding sponsorship to the management. However, I think it doesn’t sit well with them as they also disclosed how much the plaques cost. Hence, you can pls attend but the award plaque may not be presented in order to save cost. Thank you for your kind understanding sir.”

Solade’s refusal to pay for the award plaque has sparked a controversy, highlighting the issue of award shows asking recipients to pay for their own awards.
