As part of the Media Support from SPLASH9JA to We Are POETS (People Of Exceptional Talents & Skills). especially as they celebrate World Poetry Day yesterday March 21st, we promised to publish all the poems from the students who had their poem recitals from the schools during the event that took place at Mart Gardens, Ogba, Lagos.
This experience for the students will linger for long and it will serve as a form education from the creative point of view. Importantly, it will encourage the students to express themselves more and never to bottle their creative instincts and ideas inside.
As We Are POETS is serving as a veritable platforms for these kids and other poets to showcase their talents, Splash9ja support stands as one of the vehicles to unleash their creative juices to the public.
The Convener of We Are POETS- Helen Sosu-Ezirim is a creative mind that has been passionate about helping out young ones out there to find their directions and purpose in life. She was the Founding President of The Street University Project (TSUP), a free youth entrepreneurial empowerment programme since 2008.
So enjoy the collection of poems from students and other participants at the events, it is our own little quota of supporting POETRY and importantly these students who have the courage to come out to represent their schools to present their poems.
However, this in itself has brought to fore the need for Splash9ja to create a special column to be publishing poems periodically and giving voices to poetic expressions from far and wide.
Aside publishing the poems from these students and all participants from We Are POETS that celebrated World Poetry Day yesterday, we will strive to be doing more of these with some selected poems weekly going forward
