By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

Chidimma Adetshina, a beauty queen who was recently crowned Miss Universe Nigeria, shared her painful experience of being rejected by South Africans during the Miss South Africa contest.

She explained that her name and heritage were the reasons for the rejection. Many people in South Africa were unhappy that she was representing the country with a Nigerian name. This made her feel unwelcome and unaccepted.

Chidimma lived in South Africa for 23 years, but the experience was still very hurtful. She became emotional when talking about it, saying it was heartbreaking and horrible.

She didn’t want to discuss it further, but mentioned that things happened behind the scenes that made her withdraw from the contest.

Despite being born in South Africa, Chidimma felt sad that she had to withdraw from the competition. She emphasized that she is proudly South African and Nigerian.

This interview followed her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa pageant due to allegations of fraud and identity theft by her mother. Many South Africans had also criticized her for participating in the contest.

After withdrawing, Chidimma was invited to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant, which she won.
