Leaders giving themselves money for vacations while Nigerians are hurting- Macaroni

Thespian, Debo Adebayo, popularly known as Mr Macaroni, has criticised the National Assembly’s leadership for their lavish lifestyles during a time of extreme hardship for Nigerians.

He expressed his dismay that while citizens are struggling, leaders are indulging in luxurious lifestyles and using funds meant for Nigerians for themselves.

This comes after a viral video showing the Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announcing that money had been sent to lawmakers for their holiday enjoyment surfaced online and has garnered widespread criticism.

Speaking about it, Macaroni on Wednesday took to his Twitter handle to question why ordinary Nigerians must bear the cost of their leaders’ opulent lifestyles.

He said: “The Senate President has sent very expensive prayers out of the insufficient blessings of over 200 million people to himself and his already blessed colleagues at the National Assembly.

“These are the leaders that have asked struggling Nigerians to make sacrifices if they want things to work in the country. So while Nigerians are going through unbearable hardship, our leaders are sending money to themselves to enjoy holidays.

“Who are those that should be making sacrifices if not for our leaders? Do our leaders understand that leadership is about service, selfishness and sacrifice?

“Why do the poor people of Nigeria have to pay for the luxurious lifestyle of the leaders?? Why??? This isn’t leadership!!!”
