APC Slams Peter Obi Over His Tinubu Vacation Criticism

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has slammed Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, for criticizing President Bola Tinubu’s recent 10-day vacation to Europe.

Peter Obi expressed concerns that President Tinubu’s frequent foreign trips give the impression of a leader uncomfortable in his own country, especially during times of pressing national challenges.

Seye Oladejo, APC’s spokesperson in Lagos State, told Peter Obi to stop commenting on every presidential action. He described Peter Obi’s remarks as “opportunistic commentary” and questioned whether he must comment on everything.

Seye Oladejo said, “Governance does not grind to a halt simply because a leader takes time to rest—especially in an age where secure, real-time communication is always within reach. Mr. Obi knows this, but evidently prefers posturing over pragmatism.”

He also said, “No policy, no proposals – just perpetual complaints. This is not leadership. This is not patriotism. This is noise.”

He went further to make an advice. He said, “It is perhaps time for Mr Obi’s handlers to become more attentive to their principal – for the sake of both his wellbeing and his public perception. A statesman cannot afford to sound perpetually agitated, misinformed, or out of touch with the responsibilities of leadership in a modern democracy.”
