Chidimma Adetshina, Nigeria’s standout representative at the 73rd Miss Universe competition, is rejoicing in the glory of her impressive first runner-up finish.

The highly anticipated event, held at Mexico City’s Arena CDMX, Sunday morning, ended in a suspenseful showdown between Adetshina and Denmark’s Victoria Kjaer Theilvig.

In the end, Theilvig claimed the coveted crown, succeeding Sheynnis Palacios of Nicaragua, the reigning Miss Universe 2023.

Reflecting on her remarkable achievement, Adetshina shared her sentiments in an interview posted on X by the Miss Universe Nigeria organization: “I’m so excited. I don’t have words to describe what I’m feeling right now, but I’m so proud of myself, and I just made history!”

Adetshina’s journey to the Miss Universe stage was marked by perseverance. Following her withdrawal from the Miss South Africa 2024 competition due to a nationality controversy, she swiftly bounced back.

Seizing another opportunity, Adetshina emerged victorious in Miss Universe Nigeria, proudly representing Taraba State. This triumph solidified her spot in the global pageant, where she ultimately secured the first runner-up position.

Adetshina’s accomplishment underscores her determination and Nigeria’s growing presence in international pageants.
