The city of Lagos is set to witness a cultural and creative spectacle as literary brilliance meets cinematic legacy at the official unveiling of A Trip in Motion, a new book by Godson Osarenren, founder and convener of the renowned Naija Poetry Fest.
The event, scheduled for Thursday, November 27, 2025, at 4:00 p.m., will take place at the Alliance Française Lagos, Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi. The book, published by Purple Shelves Books, chronicles the illustrious career of Ambassador Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, one of Nollywood’s most celebrated filmmakers, producers, and directors — affectionately known in the industry as “The Guv’nor of Nollywood.”
A Trip in Motion captures Imasuen’s remarkable three-decade journey through the world of film — his humble beginnings, his rise to prominence, and his unrelenting contribution to shaping Nigeria’s cinematic identity on the global stage. Through Godson Osarenren’s poetic and narrative craftsmanship, the book becomes both a biography and a creative odyssey — a tribute to artistry, resilience, and vision.
Speaking ahead of the event, Osarenren described the book as “a journey in ink and motion — where the lens meets the pen, and one man’s story becomes a national inspiration.”
