Nigeria’s social media was shaken by reports that King Mitchy, a popular philanthropist and TikTok star had attempted to take her own life, leading to widespread panic and concern. However, these reports are now being called fake after official denials from Prime Care Hospital in Abuja, that she was ever a patient there.
The drama started during a late-night TikTok live stream. King Mitchy was seen on camera holding a sachet of Hypo and appearing to ingest it. Shortly after the live stream ended, a post was made on her official Instagram page claiming that she had passed away at a hospital in Abuja.
The news came after a week of intense online fighting between Mitchy and controversial activist, VeryDarkMan (VDM) over a school renovation project in Delta State.
The story took a turn on Saturday morning when Prime Care Hospital in Abuja, the facility where she was allegedly taken, released an official statement. The hospital management denied through their page on instagram that Mitchy was ever a patient there. They said, “The management of Prime Care Hospitals wishes to inform the public that the announcement of the alleged death of Miss Mukoro Mitchelle popularly known as King Mitchy at our facility in Abuja is FALSE. King Mitchy was never a patient in our hospital and did not pass away here.”
As of Saturday afternoon, there has been no proof of death from her family or the police. Many Nigerians are now calling for an investigation into the influencer for “clout-chasing” and faking a medical emergency. While some fans remain worried, some have moved from mourning to anger, with many accusing King Mitchy of using a sensitive topic like suicide to win an internet argument.
