On Thursday, 19th October 2023, the Nigerian Presidency announced the appointment of Mr Charles Ebuebu as the new Director-General / CEO of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) – the government agency in charge of regulating Nigeria’s broadcasting and electronic media sector.
Effective immediately, Mr Ebuebu will take over from the now-former DG, Balarabe Ilelah.
Before his appointment, Charles Ebuebu was the Group Head – Legal at Continental Broadcasting Service, the operator of the TVC News Channel (a 24-hour pan-African News channel broadcasting from Lagos, Nigeria).
On his LinkedIn profile, Mr Ebuebu describes himself as a seasoned industry professional with over thirteen years of experience as an in-house solicitor and external counsel and eight years of experience in channel/programme acquisition and management. Ebuebu says he is a motivated self-starter and performance-driven executive, an effective leader and team player, experienced in identifying and managing risks with the ability to provide practical, results-oriented advice that helps the organisation achieve its business objectives.
The Nigerian Presidency also announced the reappointment of Mr Abdulhamid Dembos as the Director General of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and Mr Jibrin Baba Ndace at the Voice of Nigeria (VON).
Also re-appointed is Dr Lekan Fadolapo – the Director General of the Advertising Regulatory Council of Nigeria (ARCON).
Newly appointed to run the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) as Director-General / CEO is Dr. Muhammed Bulama.
