The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) has approved a total sum of N20,075,050,006.55 for disbursement to 192,906 students in public tertiary institutions across Nigeria, as of January 1, 2025.
This update was shared on NELFund’s official X page on Monday. According to the update, Bayero University, Kano, will receive the largest share, with 11,683 students approved to receive a total of N1.3 billion. Then, the University of Maiduguri will receive N1.27 billion for 12,198 students
Other institutions that will receive significant allocations include the University of Jos, with 6,988 students allotted N941 million, and Federal University Dutsin-Ma, with 8,978 students given N909 million.
Also, the University of Ibadan will give N746 million to 4,907 students, while 5,451 students at Federal University Dutse will be given N593 million. Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, has 6,480 students set to receive N578 million, and the University of Lagos will give N557 million to 3,685 students.
Some institutions have fewer students including Gombe State Polytechnic, Bajoga, where four students will receive N122,000, and Abia State Polytechnic. where two students will be given N106,300.
Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, will provide N214,116 to three students, while Kenule Benson Saro-Wiwa Polytechnic, Bori, will give N315,500 to seven students. Furthermore, three students at the Federal College of Education, Gidan Madi, will receive N330,000.
Eleven students from Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Akwa Ibom, will receive N518,500, and nine students at Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State, will get N368,400. Twelve students at Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, will be given N528,500.
