Nestlé Nigeria Drives Environmental Sustainability with Nationwide Clean-Up

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

Nestlé Nigeria has once again demonstrated its commitment to environmental sustainability through a nationwide clean-up initiative.

The company has partnered with the African Clean-Up Initiative (ACI) and local authorities to mobilize communities and promote environmental health.

Over 516 Nestlé Cares volunteers from across the country participated in the campaign, which targeted 11 key cities and bustling market areas. The effort led to the collection of 5,601 kilograms of solid waste and 379.2 kilograms of recyclables.

Mrs. Victoria Uwadoka, Lead of Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, and Sustainability at Nestlé Nigeria, emphasized the company’s commitment to fighting plastic waste. She said, “Our commitment to combating plastic waste is central to our vision of a waste-free future. We actively foster internal accountability and partner with organizations to promote circularity in plastics.”

Dr. Alex Akhigbe, founder of ACI, said that the initiative is more than cleaning efforts, representing a movement rooted in collective responsibility and sustainability. She said, “This is about fostering a culture of environmental consciousness—every bottle collected and conversation initiated helps shape a future where we value and protect our planet.”

Nestlé Nigeria’s annual clean-up initiative serves as a model for corporate-led environmental action that inspires community-driven impact.
