TrashToArt Campaign Kicks Off on World Environment Daly

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

Buzz and Bants Africa is set to launch the TrashToArt campaign on June 5, 2025, in celebration of World Environment Day 2025.

This initiative aims to combat plastic pollution through a unique blend of carbon art and community engagement. The event is scheduled to take place from 10:30am to 2:00pm in Shomolu, Lagos and it will feature a community clean-up and an art exhibition showcasing pieces made from over 70% recycled plastic materials.

The exhibition will feature original artworks created by ND students from Yaba College of Technology’s Art Department. According to Rashidat Raji, PR Associate at Buzz and Bants Africa, “TrashToArt is not just a campaign, it’s our bold response to a global crisis. We are combining environmental action with creative expression to engage young people, elevate sustainability, and bring the World Environment Day theme to life in our local communities.”

The campaign began with student registrations and art workshops on May 27, and is a collaborative effort with community leaders in Shomolu and the Yabatech Art Department. It aims to demonstrate the impact of local initiatives in addressing global environmental issues, specifically #EndingPlasticPollution.

The event will serve as a model for creative environmental advocacy and community participation. As Rashidat Raji said, the campaign highlights the intersection of art, environmental advocacy, and grassroots involvement. For more information, contact rashidat@buzzandbants.com or 0814 831 8109.
