PDP Demands Removal of Edo State Electoral Officials

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is demanding the removal of the Edo State Police Commissioner, Nemo Edwin-Iwo, and the Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, ahead of the gubernatorial election.

The PDP claims these officials cannot ensure a fair election. They also warned the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, not to interfere with the Edo State Security Corps.

The PDP says their candidate, Fr. Asue Ighodalo, is heading for a landslide victory with nearly 70% of the votes. They accuse the All Progressives Congress (APC) of resorting to violence, manipulation, and harassment because they have no chance of winning.

The PDP alleges that the APC is using police operatives to arrest, torture, and detain innocent citizens, particularly PDP members and supporters. They claim the APC wants to terrorize the people, prevent them from voting, and manipulate the election.

The PDP demands that the Inspector General of Police removes the Edo State Commissioner of Police, release detained PDP members, and refrain from interfering with the Edo State Security Corps. They also want the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remove the Edo State REC, Dr. Anugbum Onuoha, to ensure a credible election.
