President Tinubu Goes to Europe for 10-Day Working Vacation

By Oyinkansayo Wole-Bodunde.

President Bola Tinubu has gone on a 10-day trip to Europe, sharing his time between France and the UK, as part of his 2025 annual leave.

According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, this trip is a “working vacation,” where President Tinubu plans to hold informal discussions and take some rest. In his absence, Vice President Kashim Shettima will oversee state affairs, following year.

The president’s frequent international trips have led to debates. Some question the value of these trips for the Nigerian people.

Former Senator Shehu Sani expressed skepticism about the term “working vacation,” saying, “I understand the word ‘working.’ I understand the word ‘vacation.’ The sentence ‘working vacation’ is something else.”

This trip marks one of several international visits President Tinubu has made since taking office on May 29, 2023.
