The gathering of Nigeria’s film and literary elite to celebrate the launch of Godson Osarenren latest book, “A Trip in Motion,” a biography of the legendary filmmaker Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen, was held at The Alliance Française de Lagos, Mike Adenuga Centre, Ikoyi, on November 27th, 2025.
The event was a testament to Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s enduring impact on African cinema, spanning three decades, and Godson Osarenren’s contributions to Nigerian literature.
“A Trip in Motion” is a richly detailed account of Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s life, from his humble beginnings to his current status as a global cinematic icon.
The book is a testament to Godson Osarenren’s skill as a writer, putting together poetry, history, and storytelling to create a narrative that is both personal and panoramic.
Godson Osarenren is a leading figure in Nigerian literary circles, and he has founded several initiatives, including Naija Poetry Fest and Poetic Rendezvous, which have helped to nurture a new generation of Nigerian writers.
The launch event was a celebration of Lancelot Oduwa Imasuen’s legacy, with guests from across the film and literary industries praising Godson Osarenren for his masterful biography. A guest described the book as a “A moving cinematic journey narrated through poetry, memory, and history.”
