The APC Youth Parliament, North East, has warned the party leadership against replacing Vice President Kashim Shettima on the 2027 presidential ticket with President Bola Tinubu.
During a recent gathering in Bauchi, the group emphasized the potential risks of changing the joint ticket.
The group said, “We want to state it unequivocally clear that, any attempt to reconfigure the joint ticket of His Excellency, Bola Ahmad Tinubu/Kashim Shettima in 2027 will only bring resentment that could linger beyond the elections with its negative reverberation which could trigger with the party’s success.”
The group’s chairman, Kabiru Garba Kobi, stated the importance of learning from history. He said, “It’s far from being hidden that the ghost of the previous actions of PDP is the one still haunting the party in the country, today – History has only little patience for those who choose to ignore its lessons.”
The youths expressed their trust in President Tinubu’s vision for the country, stating his willingness to make tough decisions for long-term stability. They said, “We saw and appreciated the way he emphasised the need for difficult decisions, confronting economic realities, which may cause temporary discomfort but are essential for long-term stability and stealth growth. Therefore, we all see the need to rally around our support behind them to build a country with all it takes to compete with others in growth in all ramifications.”
