University of Abuja Promotes 154 Staff Members to Various Ranks

The University of Abuja has just announced a major milestone which is the promotion of 154 staff members to various ranks.

This decision was made by the Governing Council, chaired by Saddiq Kaita, during their 98th regular meeting held on December 10-14.

The promotions are a testament to the university’s commitment to recognizing and rewarding hard work and dedication. Among the academic staff, 19 were promoted to professors, 14 to associate professors, 20 to senior lecturers, six to lecturer and one to Lecturer II. Additionally, 94 non-teaching staff were promoted across various ranks, including two to deputy director and six to assistant director.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Aisha Maikudi, congratulated the promoted staff members, praising their dedication, hard work, and discipline. She emphasized the university’s commitment to ensuring timely promotions for all deserving staff, with the support of the governing council.

“These promotions reflect the University of Abuja’s commitment to fostering excellence, recognising merit, and encouraging growth among its staff,” Maikudi said.

She also said, “I, therefore, congratulate all the promoted individuals and urge them to continue contributing to the university’s vision of academic and professional distinction and excellence.”

Maikudi also noted that all outstanding backlogs of promotion cases have been reviewed and resolved, ensuring fairness and recognition for deserving staff. The remaining cases are now awaiting external assessment reports, reflecting the university’s commitment to transparency, meritocracy, and timely career progression for its workforce.
